SUSHI BOARDS
Our Wabi Sabi sushi boards are handcrafted from locally sourced, sustainably harvested black cherry, birds eye maple or Hinoki cypress (SE region sourced). Why these woods?
Under Doug's watchful direction, each handmade solid hardwood sushi board we make, irrespective of style, wood or size, is a work of art with a carefully hand-rubbed oil finish.
Elevated surface via dove-tailed sleds is inspired by the humble, age-old Japanese Geta, but more practical reasons beget this painstaking detail. While making the boards easy to place or gather, the dovetail construction method serves another purpose:
Since solid wood expands and contracts with humidity,
sleds are center pinned (no glue) allowing movement but keeping the board flat.

Sushi Boards: Embrace the Art of Japanese Dining
Discover the essence of a traditional sushi board, known as a "geta" in Japanese. More than just a serving platter, the geta is a key element in the authentic sushi experience. With its distinct rectangular or square shape and slightly elevated design, this board serves as both a functional and visually striking way to present sushi. The elevation not only enhances the visual appeal but also reflects the respect and meticulous care that goes into crafting each piece of sushi.
Our handmade wooden platters and trays embody the elegance of Japanese design and craftsmanship. Perfect for serving larger meals or hosting gatherings, these versatile pieces bring a touch of sophistication to both special occasions and everyday dining.
